Examples and deliverables of control room design

Task areas in control room

draft with task areas In the analyses the tasks are investigated and talked over with the users. After this, several lay-outs are drafted which clearify the pro's and con's of different concepts.

3D design phases of a nautical traffic control room

3D model A 3D model with not too many details is adequate to evaluate the functionality of a design concepts together with users and management.

An important facility of the 3D model is the design and check of viewing lines from several operator positions. It is literally seeing a design from the viewpoint of (short and tall) users.
rendering of a detailed 3D-model A detailed rendering with all the correctly sized objects, gives the users a better impression of the future. This makes a 'talk through' quite easy.
photo of realized situation The photo taken of the realized situation does comply with the impression we've got from the 3D-rendering.

Detailed design: Photo realistic rendering of an off shore controlroom

photo realistic rendering It is possible to decorate the 3D design model with details, lighting, textures, and so on. Such a photo realistic model serves well to evaluate the colours, materials, illumination, see throughs and the like.

This model is of a design for an off-shore control room for one of our clients.

Detailed design: lighting lay-out of a control room

illumination valueas at desk height Calculated simulation to quantify the illumantiona at desktop heigt with all light sources set at fully 100%.

The luminaires are drawn in blue. In this case only two types are used: 600x600 mm en 200x1200 mm.

The square luminaires have a properly designed narrow beam, so no reflections wil occur in the displays.

The long luminaires in the upper part of the plan have an assymetrical slanted beam to allow for regular maintenance of apparatus placed in the wall.

Technical drawing of a console

technical drawing: position of console The design project will end up in a complete specification, including drawings, on which contractors may base their offers.

The specification can be detailed at will of the client, including cable through puts in floors and legs, access panels to casings under the console, disply mounting, etc.
