Desiree Pikaar studied Industrial Design Engineering at University of Twente (Bachelor) and TU Delft (Master). Due to her interest in designing for users in particular environments or with specific needs, she has the Medisign specialisation noted on her degree.

She works as a human factors engineer on a wide variety of projects such as (re)design of control rooms and other workplaces, review and design of HMI for process control and analysis and review of task and work organisation.

Besides her work in design and consultancy projects, Desiree is one of the organisers of various workshops and courses, including the Human Factors course, of Ergonomie Opleidingen Nederland and is jointly responsible for office management. She is also a member of the conference committee of Human Factors NL, the national professional association.

Her interests lie in user participation, graphic design, workplace design, product development and project management.
