The workplace is an important tool for workers to carry out their tasks efficiently. It should also be a safe, pleasant and comfortable place. Our workplace design is based on requirements related to the users and their tasks. Apart from that, there are also preconditions based on the financial and technical recourses, the space available, and future developments. We discuss these preconditions with the client in an early stage of the design process.
In many cases people execute different tasks and jobs in the same room. E.g. an operator in a control room who is intensely focussed on a complex process. He should not be disturbed by his colleagues having a social chat. This calls for additional design requirements on acoustics, sight lines, walking routes, and separation between workplaces.
When designing a workplace, we take into account that there is no such thing as an ‘average person’. Think of differences like body dimensions, age, gender, skills, abilities or endurance, cultural background, and even mood and motivation. We believe that the only way to analyze, evaluate and meet these aspects is to design with people and not for people. In cooperation with users we arrive at a set of workplace requirements which reflects different wishes and needs.
Most people prefer to have control over their working conditions, including their workplace. Designing a workplace that fits as many users as possible demands for adjustability. This can be an adjustable desktop, a chair or flexible positions for technical equipment, but also control options for climate, daylight, lighting and noise.
In several stages of the design process ErgoS delivers 2D and 3D visualisations to facilitate the discussion with end users and other stakeholders. Depending on the clients wishes for the level of detail ErgoS can fully specify the detailed design of consoles, furniture and room layout in dimensioned construction drawings and photorealistic visualizations.
If required ErgoS also delivers interior design with aesthetic elements like colours, materials and textures.
